Data Subscriber to UnityWorks! Media
A data subscriber is a company that receives and displays VIN decoded, pre-owned vehicle videos on dealership inventory display management pages and websites.
Data subscribers display video icons on the dealership pre-owned inventory search results pages. A typical search results page will show most of the vehicles with video icons and some without. Some vehicles do not have videos either due to dealership restrictions or because the vehicles have not had pictures taken yet. Sample video icons are available for your use in the UnityWorks! Media Video Icon Sets.
The vehicle detail page, or window sticker page, contains either another video icon with a link, or better, the video itself embedded on the page. The video player can be set to either autoplay or prompt the user. Let us know which way you prefer and we will pre-set it. In all cases, the video icon or the embedded video must be clearly visible, above the fold on the vehicle details page.
There are two different ways to integrate with UnityWorks! Media. The traditional approach is by using FTP data transfer files. This approach has built-in time delays as these files are processed on a nightly basis. UnityWorks! Media does not supply any integration code for FTP data transfers.
A newer, easier approach is by using the UnityWorks! Media supplied jQuery code. The jQuery code is provided to you on different pages in this wiki. Advantages include the ability to add the code to your templates and by simply adding the correct dealership CTX (context) ID having the vehicles with videos immediately available for dealership prospects. Additionally, with no data transfers taking place FTP data processing and server issues are virtually non-existent.
The process for becoming a data subscriber to UnityWorks! Media is as follows. First, decide on whether you will be using the traditional FTP transfer method or the newer jQuery method.
Traditional FTP
- Send an email to datafeed@unityworksmedia with the FTP location, User Name and Password and desired file name.
- Provide us with a contact, email address and telephone number at your company for subscriber data notifications.
- UnityWorks! Media will schedule a five vehicle data feed to this file and location for the next scheduled feed. These will be sent as soon as our internal video production process has been completed and videos are available to be sent. Please note that all mutual dealership data will be sent in this same file.
- A full data feed will be scheduled once we have verified that the video icons are showing on the dealership pre-owned inventory listings page and that the videos are visible and playing on the vehicle details pages.
jQuery Integration
- Add the appropriate jQuery code to your inventory managment templates. The table below lists the order and links for the preferred implementation.
- Request the dealership CTX ID for the dealerships that you are integrating from datafeed@unityworksmedia.com
